Day 1 Sunday GolfAhoy guests will be met by the barge guide at 3.00pm at the designated meeting point and transferred by luxury coach to the Shannon Princess in Killaloe. Family-owned and -managed, Shannon Princess delivers one of the warmest welcomes in European river barge golf cruising. You are welcomed on board the elegant with a Champagne Reception. Time enough to relax on deck or explore this charming riverside town & local sites of interest. Watch the world float by, as you enjoy your first gourmet dinner on board.
Day 2 Monday: Lahinch Old Course Golf & Cruise to Mountshannon Enjoy your first morning cruising on the spectacular reaches of the Lower Shannon. Transfer to Lahinch Golf Club, one of the top courses in the world. Enjoy a round of 18 holes at this famous course. The Old Course is one of two 18-hole courses at Lahinch Golf Club. Golf at Lahinch dates back to 1892, making it one of Ireland’s oldest clubs. The unpredictable winds coming off the ocean add an interesting twist to the round. Day 3 Tuesday: Adare Manor Golf Course and cruise to Terryglass Sunrise cruise to Dromineer Golfing today is at Adare Manor Golf Resort. An exquisite 18-hole Championship Course features 230 acres of lush Irish countryside with lakes & rivers meandering throughout. Gourmet Dinner and evening sail to our overnight mooring at Terryglass.
Day 4 Wednesday: Banagher After Breakfast we depart to neighboring Mossfield Organic Cheese Farm & “Leap Castle”, reputed to be Ireland’s most haunted house. You will be hosted by Sean Ryan- a renowned musician and his family who will invite you in to their unusual home. Return to the barge & a lovely lunch featuring local produce. A cruise through ever-changing river floodplains brings us to our overnight mooring at the little river town of Banagher. After dinner find music & banter at local pubs.
Day 5 Thursday: Golf The K Club- Cruise to Athlone Cruise through the protected Callows – a wild life Flora & Fauna reserve, mooring at the ancient ruins of Clonmacnoise. After a guided tour and lunch cruise, we moor at Athlone Town. Depart for Golf at The K Club. Host Golf Course for the 2006 Ryder Cup. The Arnold Palmer designed course is one of the premier parkland golf courses in Europe. See www.kclub.ie Return to barge for Gourmet Dinner. Share golf lore & music at any of the waterside pubs.
Day 6 Friday: Cruise to Glasson Golf Course Today we float through the Shannon’s beautiful Lough Ree & the Inner Lakes passing stately riverside homes & some of its reputed 365 wooded islands. We moor at Glasson. Glasson is one of the most scenic courses you will play in Ireland, with panoramic views over Lough Ree from every hole. See www.theglassongolfhotel.ie Afternoon visit for tasting at a local Whiskey Distillery Dating from 1757, the Old Kilbeggan Distillery is the oldest licensed whiskey distillery in the world. Visit also takes in nearby Ballinahown Artisan Craft Village.
Saturday: After breakfast departure for Dublin Airport or Hotel.
