Southampton, Vigo, Palma, La Spezia, Cannes, Barcelona, Gibraltar, Southampton.

Southampton, United Kingdom. The United Kingdom’s premier passenger ship port, Southampton was home to the great transatlantic liners of yesteryear. The port serves as your gateway to Southern England’s magnificent historic sites, national landmarks, charming villages as well as the great metropolis of London. Southampton is the ideal starting or ending point for a memorable voyage.

Vigo, Spain. An important fishing and commercial port, Vigo’s shaded squares and cobbled streets make for a delightful amble around this old fishing town. First settled by Celts circa 600 BC, the Celtic legacy lingers on in Galicia’s old legends and in the bagpipes played on festive occasions. Seafood is definitely on the menu here in one of the plentiful restaurants in the harbor.

Palma de Mallorca, Spain. Arriving in Mallorca’s capital, Palma, you’ll find a vibrant city of boutiques, cafés, and markets in medieval lanes, all under the watchful gaze of its immense and photogenic gothic sandstone cathedral. Beyond Palma, the island’s gorgeous coast shelters beautiful coves, calm harbors and the lavish villas of the rich and famous.

La Spezia, Italy. Tucked into the Ligurian coastline, between Genoa and Pisa, is the pretty town of La Spezia – one of Italy’s most important military and commercial harbors. But it’s not this that attracts so many. La Spezia is the gateway to the UNESCO World Heritage Site called Cinque Terre – a collection of five coastal villages perched on the coastline.

Cannes, France. Here on the French Riviera, Cannes is known for its beaches, chic boutiques and elegant nightspots around La Croisette promenade. It was a sleepy harbor until 1834 when Lord Brougham stayed here on his travels to Italy and began its transformation into a fashionable resort. It’s now home to the famous film festival and the immortalized handprints of A-list movie stars.

Barcelona, Spain. Delve into the art collections of the Picasso Museum or Miró Foundation. Explore the genius of Gaudí’s architecture too, as you survey the city from Parc Güell, witness the extraordinary buildings of Casa Mila and Casa Batlló, and marvel at his unfinished masterpiece, the cathedral, Sagrada Familia. Post-sightseeing, a shady spot in one of Barcelona’s numerous cafés provides a wonderful vantage point for watching colorful street performers on Las Ramblas.

Gibraltar. Gibraltar is perhaps best known for The Rock – a giant limestone ridge rising to a huge 426 feet, with sheer drops on the northern and eastern sides. Following suit, much of the landscape of Gibraltar is rural, diverse, and well worth an afternoon of exploring.

Southampton, Cadiz, Barcelona, Livorno, Civitavecchia, Cartagena, Gibraltar, Southampton

Cadiz, Spain. Historic, mysterious and romantic, the Spanish city of Cadiz is unique. It is generally considered to be the oldest continuously inhabited settlement in Europe founded in around 1100 BC. An ancient port city in southwest Spain, almost completely surrounded by water, it contains enough history to enchant and intrigue you throughout your Cadiz cruise.

Florence, Italy (from Livorno). Allow yourself to be awed by one of Tuscany’s Renaissance treasures, Florence. With red-tiled roofs, tiny shops and magnificent architecture, this is the romantic capital of Italy. Marvel at the mosaic façade and stained glass of the Duomo, gaze up at the tilting bell tower of Pisa and soak up the sight of the beautiful gold and silver workshops huddled together over the River Arno.

Rome (from Civitavecchia). A visit to Rome is an unforgettable experience. Explore the legends of the ages: the Vatican and Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel, the Colosseum, the Roman Forum and the Catacombs. Stroll down the Via Veneto or sip a cappuccino in the Piazza di Spagna. Italy’s “Eternal City” is eternally fascinating. Throw a few coins in the Trevi Fountain and you may be back again!

Cartagena, Spain. With a fascinating history dating back 3,000 years, the natural harbor of Cartagena is a major naval port due to its unique position on the Mediterranean coast. A stroll amidst Cartagena’s more recent modernista-style architecture- all flamboyant curves, ornate balconies and striking mosaics- may make the ideal prelude to an asiático, the local liqueur coffee.

Gibraltar. Gibraltar is perhaps best known for The Rock – a giant limestone ridge rising to a huge 426 feet, with sheer drops on the northern and eastern sides. Following suit, much of the landscape of Gibraltar is rural, diverse, and well worth an afternoon of exploring. The Anglo Hispano Bodega Company was founded in Gibraltar in 1892. The company’s main activity in those days was the production of wines in La Palma del Condado, an area of Huelva where Anglo Hispano had their own bodegas. Today, the company exports wines, spirits, beers, beverages, and tobacco. Sandpits Vaults was built in the 18th century to store ammunition. The thickness of the walls is nine meters wide and was meant to protect the ammunition stored within it from possible bombing. In the 1990’s the Isola family refurbished the magazine and converted it into a tasting room for corporate gatherings and events in general. It is here, that you’ll experience an unforgettable wine tasting session. Sample five different wines from the region served with delicious Tapas. The selection of wines is from the neighboring region of Andalucía. Fino from Jerez, Manzanilla from San Lucar de Barrameda, a white from Cadiz, a red from Ronda and a sweet wine from Malaga. The wine tasting is supported by videos of each wine and towards the end, you’ll be invited to participate in an interactive ‘guess the grape’ challenge.
